Why it holds up
Motion and sound in one body
The motor and the effects are inside the prop, so there is no separate fixture or speaker to hide in the mulch. One cord in, and the figure works the lawn on its own all night.

How much of it is there? It looks cut off.
That is the design. It is a half-figure — torso, head and two raised arms, no legs. It is meant to sit low in the grass so the ground line finishes the body for you, which is why it reads as something coming up rather than something set down.
How do I keep it from tipping in a breeze?
Set it low, with the robe skirt spread flat on the turf and mulch or leaves pulled over the hem. Piling weight on the fabric edge does more than trying to prop the body upright. On an open corner lot, an anchor kit through the skirt holds it where a loose prop walks overnight.
Does it need batteries?
No. The motion and the light-up eyes both run off the same cord into a standard 120V outdoor outlet, so there is nothing to swap halfway through the night.
Can it stay outside all October?
That is what it is built for. UV-stable materials on the robe and skin, weather-shielded electronics. You set it out early in the month and leave it, instead of carrying it in every time the forecast turns.
