Questions people ask

How big is it, really?

48 inches out of the ground and 89 inches from fingertip to fingertip. The height is about waist-to-chest on an adult; the width is the part people underestimate — it is most of a parking space.

Do the eyes actually move, or is that the photo?

They move. Each socket holds a lit lens and the bright point inside it travels, which is why the face keeps working after someone has already looked at it once. A lit skull is a decoration; a lit skull whose eyes travel is something that noticed you.

Where do the hands go?

They come as separate pieces, so the dig is yours. Set them close and it reads as climbing out; set them wide and it was already there, holding the lawn open. Nothing about the spacing is decided at the factory.

What if the only spot I have is concrete?

The hands read best pressed into something — soil, mulch, a flower bed. On a paved porch they rest on the surface, which still works but reads as a prop lying down rather than as a dig. Set them against the edge of a step or a planter so they have something to grip.

Is it too scary for a street with small kids?

Bare bone, open jaw, no blood and nothing torn. Kids on the sidewalk slow down, point, and keep walking. It sits at slightly scary, which is the right amount for a street with strollers.

Can I put it on a porch instead of a lawn?

Yes. It is listed for indoor or outdoor use, and because it is a torso there is nothing to stand up — it sits on decking as readily as it sits in a flower bed.

How does it store?

In three pieces: the torso with its arms, and the two hands. That is the whole reason a four-foot prop goes back in a bin without an argument on November 1st.
