How many arms come in a set, and do I get both hands?

Ten pieces per set: five left arms and five right arms, so the hands already face opposite ways with no sorting on your end. Each one is a resin forearm and hand in a matte bone off-white. Plant a left and a right about a stride apart and the eye reads two bodies under the lawn instead of one prop repeated.

How big is one arm, and how much of it shows once it is planted?

The arm is 18.3 in from fingertip to the rounded end, the hand spans 3.1 in, and the black stake at its base runs 5.1 in. Nearly all of that stake goes under the soil, so a planted piece stands about 13 in off the ground, roughly mid-shin. Walk out to the sidewalk and look back before you call it done, because below the grass line the fingers simply vanish.

What do the two joints actually do?

A black disc with a silver screw at the base swivels the stake against the arm, so the forearm can lean forward or back while the stake still drives straight down. The wrist is the second joint, and it bends, so the hand can angle up toward the sky or tip down toward the ground. Set the wrist first, then turn the base until the shadow falls the way you want it.

Where can I plant them?

Grass, a flower bed, mulch, or a deep planter all take the stake, indoors or outdoors. You push it in with your hand and pull it out with your hand, with no tool involved. Mulch hides the base best; in short grass, press a thumb of soil back around the disc or the black edge catches daylight.

Do I have to assemble anything, and what shows up in the box?

Nothing to assemble. Arm, wrist, base disc, and stake arrive already joined, and there is no light, no sound, no motor, no battery, and no cord, so nothing to wire or charge. Tip all ten onto the lawn before you plant the first one, since choosing the layout with the pieces in your hands beats moving stakes twice.

How should I store them after the season?

Keep the box and plan on bringing them in. Nothing is published about how this resin handles rain, sun, freezing, or wind, so the honest call is to treat the set as a display you put out and take back in, not something you leave in the yard for months. Wipe the soil off each stake before it dries and lay the pieces side by side in the box instead of stacking them on top of the hands.

My only space is a concrete patio. Can I still use these?

Yes, with one change. Fill a deep pot or a planter box with soil and drive the stakes into that, which also lifts the whole group up to porch height. On bare concrete, lay a piece on its side and let the hand reach out from under a step or a doormat. At close range a hand coming out of a doorway seam lands harder than one standing upright.

How do I make one set look like more than ten arms?

Do not plant them in a straight row with every hand facing the same way. Vary the lean, tipping some forearms forward at the base disc and standing others straight up, and turn each wrist to a different angle. Group them in loose clusters of two or three with bare grass between, because the empty gaps are what make the yard feel like it is still coming up.
