It works indoors or out, and the trigger is sound rather than wind, so it stays quiet on a breezy porch and wakes when the group at the door starts talking. Porch height is the right height for it: on the step, on the rail, or just inside the door.

Built for the close look
On a porch nobody meets it from across the lawn; they meet it at arm's length. The grey face is cracked and dusted, the eyes sit deep and dark, and the striped gown is worn in at the hem.
Stands on its own boots
It stands upright on its own two black boots, so it sets down on a step, a rail, or an entry table. Indoor or outdoor, it moves from the porch to the hallway with no rework.
