Why it holds up

Arms out, chest wide, 70 inches of it. The shape lands before any detail does, so a kid coming up the block sees the outline under the hat and slows down at the end of the walk.
Burlap, straw and patched cloth

Seventy inches, close to adult height, so the arms-out silhouette lands from the end of the walk before any detail does.
