A full-height crone in a hooded shroud of grey cheesecloth, ragged at every hem, with a pale face and lit eyes under the hood. The gauze hangs all the way to the ground, so the base disappears into the grass. Put her at the end of the walk, just off to one side, where the porch light runs out.

She reads sound, not movement, so she stays still through a gusty hour and goes off when a group comes up the walk talking. The kids trigger her; the trees do not.

UV-stable materials and weather-shielded electronics, so the shroud does not chalk out in the sun and the box still works after a wet night. She lives on the lawn from the first weekend to the last.
