Questions people ask

How tall is it?

35.4 inches, about 90 cm, measured from the tip of the stake to the top of the hood. Roughly waist height on an adult, which is the height that reads from the sidewalk without towering over the flower bed.

Does it need an outlet?

No. There is a solar panel built into the stake and no cord at all. Nothing to run out to the porch, nothing to trip over on the walkway, and nothing to unplug when it rains.

Do I have to switch it on every night?

No. It reads the light around it and comes on by itself at dusk, then goes off again by morning. You plant it once and it keeps its own schedule for the rest of the season.

Do the souls actually move?

The figure itself does not move - there is no motor and nothing turns. What moves is the light: the strands run through the blue LEDs so the glow travels down them, which is what reads as souls pouring out of the lantern after dark.

How long does it stay lit at night?

The maker does not publish a runtime, so we are not going to quote one. What we can say is that it runs off the day's charge, so a stake in full sun holds out longer than one under a porch roof or a thick tree.

Can it stay out in the rain?

Yes. It is built for the open yard and handles rain and wind through the season. If your yard gets real weather, the anchor kit below is what keeps a light stake from leaning after a storm.

How long does it take to put up?

About five minutes, with no tools. It arrives assembled - you pick the spot and push the stake into soil or grass until it stands on its own.

How many should I get?

One makes a focal point, and that is enough if you are marking a single bed or a corner. Two flank a walkway so the path reads from both sides. Three line a full path to the door, which is the version people slow down for.
