Twenty-eight loose pieces — skull, ribs, pelvis, femurs, hands and single vertebrae — in a bone white finish with brown settled into the sockets and seams. Nothing to assemble: scatter them across dirt, mulch or the base of a headstone and the lawn starts reading as a dug-up plot.

The brown is already down in the sockets and seams when the box opens, so the pile reads old on day one. That saves the dry-brushing session in the garage the last week of October.

Made for outdoor use, so the pile can sit in mulch, gravel or wet grass. Half-bury a femur at the edge of a bed and let the rest surface around it.

On the night, trick-or-treaters cut the corner and step around a hand they never saw from the sidewalk. In November you walk the yard, pick the pieces out of the mulch, hose the dirt off and stack them back in the box. Standard delivery runs 5 to 7 days, so leave room before the 31st.
