Questions people ask

How tall is it?

It's an elevated garden stake sized to stand above flower beds and low plantings, with the cauldron sitting at about waist height once planted, the height that reads from the sidewalk without hiding behind the flowers in front of it.

Does it need an outlet?

No cord runs to the house. Each stake works on its own once it's planted, so there's nothing to route across the lawn or unplug when the weather turns.

How do I turn it on?

Push the stake into the bed, then switch it on at the cauldron. It doesn't turn itself off at sunrise, so most people flip it on at dusk and off before bed.

Do the lights actually move?

The witch and cauldron themselves don't move, there's no motor. What moves is the light: the strand runs orange, green and purple in sequence, which is what reads as a cascade pouring out of the cauldron after dark.

Does it project on my house?

The cutouts in the cauldron let warm light escape in the shapes of witches, bats, moons and webs, and against a nearby wall or fence within a few feet, those shapes show up as moving shadows. It won't throw a picture across a whole yard the way a dedicated projector does.

Can it stay out in the rain?

It's built for the yard, but the maker recommends bringing it in for severe weather, heavy rain, high wind or freezing conditions, to protect the finish and the light strand rather than leaving it exposed all season.

How long does it take to set up?

About five minutes, with no tools. It arrives assembled, you just pick the spot, push the stake into soil or grass, and switch it on.

How many should I get?

Two flank a bed or a short walkway. Four line both sides of a full path. Eight is the version people use to run the whole fence line or wrap a bed border, and it's also the set that spreads best if you're splitting cauldrons between the front and back yard.
